This past Saturday, I had the honor of attending the Sighthound Celebration hosted by @greyhoundsinmotion.

One of the most heartwarming events of the year and their biggest fundraiser.

I was there selling prints of this year‘s official Sighthound Celebration puzzle artwork. Because not everyone loves a puzzle, but everyone deserves a piece of beautiful art! I may be a little biased on this since I’m the artist😊

it’s such a joyful celebration, and the best part? You don’t even need to own a Sighthound to attend!

So if Your Sighthound dragged you past my tent,(they are very fast) or you couldn’t make it out this year. No Worries! I still have prints available in 8 x 10 and 5 x 7.

It’s not easy being a pet portrait artist when you

It’s not easy being a pet portrait artist when you’re grieving the loss of your own pet. But in a lot of ways, painting has helped me. I understand completely what these families are feeling. Pet loss is hard to explain and not enough people want to talk about it.

I know you want to see your baby’s face. I know you want them back on your lap. I know you want to say good morning and tell them you love them.

Painting through my own grief made me realize, I might have something real to give to people dealing with this type of grief. My hope is that it helps you through the process as much, as allowing me to paint your fur baby has helped me.

Everyone who came to my booth, drew their furry friend on a sticky note to create a heart canvas.

Every little drawing told a story, and together we created a big portrait of love, loyalty and happiness!

Meet Teddy — named after Theodore Roosevelt and ye

Meet Teddy — named after Theodore Roosevelt and yes, his portrait has had a nod to that.

I started the sketch and leaning a little bit more into Theodore Roosevelt, but I ultimately decided that it’s really about the charm, the ridiculous cuteness of Teddy so I shifted and let the painting become about joy instead of likeness alone.

this is exactly what I love to do.
My work isn’t meant to be a replica of the photo on your phone. It’s about pulling out the whimsy, silliness, and the spirit that makes your pet yours. Sometimes that means playful details, unexpected touches, or story woven into the piece.

This painting makes me go awww, every time I see it. It’s one of the sweetest ideas. I’m still smiling about this one.
