A personalized dog Christmas ornament is that kind of gift.
Whether you’re shopping for a dog lover who has everything, honoring a pup who’s no longer here, or simply wanting your own dog on the tree this holiday season, a hand-painted ornament made from your pet’s photo is one of the most personal, lasting things you can give. Or keep.
Here’s everything you need to know about choosing the right style, understanding the process, and ordering in time for Christmas.
What Makes a Personalized Dog Ornament Different
What you won’t find is your dog.
A hand-painted personalized ornament starts with a photo of your specific pet: their face, their markings, the particular expression that makes them unmistakably yours. From there, I paint each ornament by hand, one at a time. No two are identical, because no two dogs are.
That’s the difference. It’s not just a dog ornament. It’s a portrait of the dog you love, small enough to hang on a branch and meaningful enough to keep forever.
The Ornament Styles: Four Options, One Process
Every ornament I offer is hand-painted from your dog’s photo. What varies is the surface, the size, and the finish, and each style has its own character.
3″ Iridescent Glass Ball Ornament
The classic. A traditional glass Christmas ball with an iridescent finish that catches the light beautifully. At 3 inches, it’s a generous size that shows off the portrait without overwhelming the tree.
3.5″ Natural Wood Slice Ornament
Warm, organic, and a little unexpected. The natural wood slice has a texture and character that no two pieces share exactly—because it’s real wood. This one suits a more rustic or natural holiday aesthetic, and the portrait sits beautifully against the grain. Available with a tinsel bow or buffalo plaid bow finish.
3.5″ Acrylic/Lucite Disc Ornament
Clean, modern, and surprisingly striking. The clear acrylic disc gives the portrait a floating quality that looks especially beautiful in front of lights. It’s the one that tends to stop people mid-unwrap. Available with embellishment options to suit your style.
4.5″ Mirror Disco Ball Ornament
This one has a personality of its own. The mirror disco ball is the largest of the four styles and the most show-stopping—your dog’s portrait painted onto a reflective surface that catches every light in the room. If the dog you’re painting was a little extra, this is the ornament for them.
Holiday Bundles: More Ornaments, Better Value
For families with multiple pets—or for anyone who wants to give ornaments to more than one person—I offer holiday bundles during the season:
- Two acrylic/lucite disc ornaments
- Three natural wood slice ornaments
- Plus, additional options
Each ornament in a bundle features a different pet portrait, so they work beautifully as a set for households with multiple dogs, or as individual gifts for different family members.

Personalized Dog Ornaments as Gifts: Who They’re For
For the dog lover who has everything
If you’ve ever struggled to find a gift for someone whose dog is their whole personality, a custom ornament solves the problem completely. It’s specific to their dog, made by hand, and unlike anything they could buy for themselves. It’s the kind of gift people talk about.
For someone who’s lost a dog
A dog memorial ornament is one of the most tender gifts you can give to someone grieving a pet. It keeps their dog on the tree—present in the holiday, part of the family still. Many of my clients tell me the memorial ornament becomes the most meaningful thing on their tree, year after year.
If you’re ordering a memorial ornament for someone else, I can ship it directly to them. Just let me know when you reach out.
For yourself
There’s nothing wrong with commissioning one for your own tree. In fact, some of my favorite orders are from people who simply want their dog there—part of the holiday, part of the home, painted with the same care I’d give any commissioned portrait.
How the Process Works
Step 1: Choose your ornament style.
Decide on the surface and size that feels right—glass ball, wood slice, acrylic disc, or disco ball. Browse the options in the shop and note any finish preferences (glittery background, gold leaf, buffalo plaid bow, etc.).
Step 2: Share your photo.
Send a clear, well-lit photo of your dog. Face-forward shots or three-quarter angles work best. The more personality the photo captures, the more personality the ornament will have. I paint any breed.
Step 3: I paint your ornament.
Each ornament is painted by hand, one at a time. I’ll keep you updated as the work progresses.
Step 4: Your ornament ships.
Carefully packaged and shipped anywhere in the United States.
Turnaround time is four weeks from order confirmation. Please plan accordingly—especially if you’re ordering as a gift and need it by a specific date. Holiday slots fill faster than most people expect.
